One of nature's truly awesome wonders is the Hurricane. More specifically its center or what is referred to as the "Eye" of the hurricane. When the storm is displayed on a weather monitor you can see the eye. Matter of fact the sharper the eye the more powerful the force of the hurricane. The "Eye" is the source of my fascination with hurricanes. The eye of the hurricane is completely void of rain and wind a place of peace and serenity.
In our journey in life we traverse through a series of storms, and a beautiful thing it is. That is if you can find the center of your storm! We often times overlook the "Peace" and "Strength" (2 Corinthians 12:9) amidst the storm we're in, largely because we are focusing more on the chaos and destruction of the storm (viz. the circumstances), rather than it's center. In the center you will find peace and where there is peace there you shall find the Lord(Philippians 4:7), and where we find the Lord we find strength AND direction.
The most difficult challenge amidst a storm is "Focus". We have wind, rain, thunder and lighting coming at tyrannical forces against us from all directions. I mean really, who can truly "Focus" amidst such chaos? Exactly, it's difficult to focus in the winds of the storm, however it is the center that is conducive for focus. It is here that we are strengthened. It is here that we receive direction. It is here we find peace.
We ask ourselves in the storm "what's the next step?" "Where do I go from here?" "How am I expected to know what to do if I can't see a clear cut plan or path before me (Proverbs 16:9; Psalm 119:105)?" Guess what? The answer lay at the center of the storm. Finding the center of your storm is the act of drawing closer to the Lord.
In order to receive direction we draw near to the Lord (viz. within "soft speaking" distance), as it is hear (intentional spelling) we shall receive direction.
To answer the most frequented question amidst the storm "What is my next step"? The next step should be the first step towards the center!
Isaiah 48:16+17 16)"Come near me and listen..." 17) "...I am the LORD your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go..."
